Board of Directors
The Fire Mountain School Board of Directors is a dedicated group of individuals who share a deep passion for our mission and a strong commitment to the Fire Mountain community. Together, they work collaboratively to guide and support the continued growth and success of FMS
Hannah Clark - President
|
Hannah Clark is an Oregon native who has lived with her family in Cannon Beach since 2014. She began her career as a teacher in the Seaside School District and currently is teaching Spanish/ELD at the Cannon Beach Academy. Hannah is mom to 2: Maya and Lev. She loves to run and do yoga, cook, read and be outside with her children. Hannah has been a part of the Fire Mountain community since 2023, when her daughter Maya joined the school. Hannah joined the board in May 2023 because of her love for community building, and excitement for continuing the legacy of Fire Mountain. Hannah is now the President of the Board. |
Maurie O'Dea - Former President
|
Maurie O’Dea, an Oregon native, has lived in Cannon Beach with her family since 2015. The O’Deas have been at FMS since 2019 with their two sons: Shane is currently in 3rd grade, and Damian (FMS alum) is now in 7th grade at Seaside Middle School. Maurie began her service at the school as Volunteer Administrator before joining the board. She completed her term as Board President in 2025. The O’Deas are the proprietors of Kingfisher Farms in Nehalem and take pride in growing organic produce for our north coast community.
|
Rechele Plummer - Treasurer
|
Rechele Plummer has lived on the Oregon Coast since 2012 and resides with her family outside of Seaside on a small farm.
Rechele's background is in perinatal health care and is currently a full time nursing student. She has two daughters; Mabel and Maggie. Mabel attended Fire Mountain School in 2019 prior to the pandemic and Maggie has been enrolled at FMS since 2023. Rechele joined the Board in hopes to continue to foster a community of collaboration and joyous learning. She enjoys beekeeping, gardening, cooking, hiking and being outdoors with her family. |
Fae Scott
|
Fae Scott (they/she) has been a lover of FMS since they moved to the coast 10 years ago. Spending many many hours exploring the beaches and forests of Falcon Cove solo and as a nanny for a FMS family, the magic of the school blossomed along with the area.
Almost working at the school many times, they excitedly got involved on a parent level when their kiddo Cove started attending FMS as an eagle in 2022. Knowing many of the elders of FMS intimately in this community, Fae was inspired to join the board in 2023 to help hold the FMS spirit, speak for the trees and those unseen, as well as for those less privileged in our community. She took the secretary position in 2024. They now are the teacher-board liaison and hopes to continue to bridge the history and spirit of FMS with the new paradigms our world is experiencing at this time. Decolonization--Diversity, Equity and Inclusion are their top priorities when navigating FMS policies and decisions. |
Karynn Fish - Secretary |
Board Elders:
Liz Beckman. Liz Beckman lives in Cannon Beach and has been involved in Fire Mountain School for 4 decades. All four of her children attended Fire Mountain. Liz and Chris Beckman continue to be great supporters of our community. She has a fabulous green thumb, and often shares her flower garden's bounty with the school. We all learn so much from Liz and her experienced, learned and measured approach to develop and improve this community.
Vivi Tallman. Vivi too has been involved in Fire Mountain since the beginning. Vivi has worn many hats here at the school and has such a depth of Fire Mountain cultural knowledge. Her children attended the school, she lived here in the Cove for years, and she continues to share her talents and rich experience as both Board Treasurer and as an essential part of our Elders Council.
